How do you feel about Vivobarefoot?

chris says:

Great video. With the Altras, how did you find the extra length of the shoes given that you had to buy 2 sizes bigger to accommodate your wide feet?

Steve Alberts says:

Thanks for this review Pie. Been looking into Altras and your experience has convinced me. Thanks also for the recommendation about Dirty Girl. I’ll look into those. And yes, Darn Tough are the best socks! Keep on walkin’!

I’ve heard a few people say that trail running shoes are good for about 500 miles. Many people say that boots are more durable than trail shoes but only 1 youtube video I found actually told me that boots were good for about 1200 miles. My question is….how do these numbers change based on body weight? I’ve had a few pairs of boots that I’ve had for 10-12 years. I’m finally looking for a new pair because my tread was all worn down. Even though I’ve never been an active hiker in the past I still love the outdoors which is why I wear boots every day….From what I’ve learned about footwear on the AT it seems like my boots should be condemned….but I haven’t had any problems. Maybe if I hiked long miles I would notice a problem but since I only weigh 130lbs I’m wondering if all my boots lasted this long because I weigh less than most men…or am I just wearing them too long and its bad for my posture? Any thoughts?

Great review.

Very informative. Unless I missed it, I didn’t catch any mention about how well/fast the shoes dried, after walking through a creek or something. Thanks.

Nice review . . . I wear trail runners myself. Do you see lots of people wearing those big heavy boots even still???

Mike Sides says:

Best video yet. A suggestion I offer is to try the trail runner from a company that makes the running or walking shoe that has served one well.
