Best Day Pack for Hiking | REI Flash 22 Backpack | Gear Review

Review and comparison of two versions of the REI Flash 22 Daypack. Also, a short review of the Platypus 3.0 Liter Big Zip hydration bladder/reservoir.

Sean McClue says:

After testing out the new 2017 version of this pack over the last several months, I have found that the hydration pocket is a little smaller than the previous version, but it is still able to fit a 3 liter hydration bladder. I really like the outside pocket on the side, and I like how the gear loops can be tucked away so that they are not sticking out. All in all, some good improvements to an almost perfect daypack. However, now I am looking at some smaller packs made out of X-Pac, which is waterproof… if I can find one with this type of configuration, then I will probably buy it for my next daypack.

Amber G says:

All orders over $50 ship for free! I agree, this is a great pack! It was our staff gift this year, and I haven’t stopped using it! …oh, and I work for REI, so I may be biased 😉 but it’s a handy little pack! Great for travel, too! Packs virtually flat and then you have a sizable day pack for your travel adventures!

Steven Miller says:

I have the Olive color way, and I am beyond impressed with it. For such a small bag, I still find myself not using all the space available. First 22L day pack that feels like a 40L pack.

Richard Bucker says:

any updates on the pack?
