Great packs but I am reminded why I am patiently waiting for my (lightweight)  Mountain Laurel Designs pack to arrive.

SurfK9 says:

Dude, obviously greatest only refers to items you can make money from. Everyone who thru hikes knows Zpack Arcs.

Scott Gibson says:

No Zpack , these are all old school heavy packs

David Thomas says:

Good grief, a Baltoro is listed as 5 pounds, 14 ounces. How old school! You can’t eat your pack, it doesn’t keep you warm at night and it doesn’t shelter you. If you need to go cheap, get a My Trail Co pack for $100 to $170 for a 2-pound pack. If you don’t need to go so cheap, then get one of the thru-hiking packs around one pound by Zpacks, ULA, etc.

martin ernesto pinta says:

And what about SEEK OUTSIDE backpacks ?

Chuck Littleton says:

There are a bunch of cottage industry packs out there which can be customized to the individual’s likes and weight a lot less. Just google lightweight packs or ultralight weight packs. Personally I have a 38 liter pack that weighs 10.5 ounces which takes all of my gear. I’d rather have the weight in my food bag then a heavy pack. Did the heavy pack routine years ago. Before you ask , NO , I’m not a thru hiker , just a ..( section )..for the fun of it , hiker. A lot of thru hikers with lightweight packs have complicate trails.

hobocyclist mike says:

really nice ad or bs haha out for that youtube money

Fernando Rondon says:

No analysis or comparison. Just a compilation of manufacturers’ videos, with no value added.

Nick Rodriguez says:

These packs are cool and have a ton of features, But with features comes added weight you don’t need really. These packs are super heavy, and IF they can’t even hold a bear canister, than why bother. Zpacks Arc Blast is what you want for a thru hike, along with duplex tent, and you’ll have pack and shelter combined that are lighter than any of these packs featured here.

STeVe PNW says:

If your looking for a good thru hiking pack and tent, check out a Zpacks Arc Blast Pack and the Zpacks Duplex Tent. Expensive – Yes! … Worth it – If you can afford it , Ya.

The best gear list videos are the ones done by folks that have finished the PCT or AT.

Radnally says:

Check out ULA equipment. Very good bang for your buck.
