Marmot Limestone 6P Tent Review

Are you looking for a new tent this year? If so, you should consider the Marmot Limestone 6P tent. It is easy to set up, waterproof, ventilated, easy to enter & exit, and very comfortable. In hot weather, ample mesh and vents will allow the interior temperature to drop as soon as the sun goes down. In cool weather it can be heated with a space heater and is reasonably comfortable.

This is a very nice tent… Marmot is one of my favorite backpacking brands… This tent is similar to my kelty Trail Ridge 8. The vestibule door touches the ground after a good wind… The poles that run horizontal give extra support, similar to framing on a house.

Thanks! Very enjoyable! Marmot 6P with its near vertical side walls and build reputation is what is pushing me toward this tent. I am disturbed to hear of the coldness of this tent as I too am basically buying it for my fall trips. This has given me second thoughts on it and perhaps the Halo 6P might be a better choice.

Roger Lamb says:

Marmot is a good product and your tent looks like its made very well.

You always have the best camp set-ups – I love seeing the pics of your setup to get ideas. We have some Marmot hiking clothes, and they are very well made! Thanks for the video.

Thomas, You may want to look at canvas tents for cool fall weather. Canvas Bell and Sibley tents seem to be popular.

Thanks, really helpful review – showed me everything I was wondering about!

Frazier Douglass says:

Thanks Happy. It’s nice to hear from you again.

I’m thinking 7 years with the Limestone 4P, most folks would consider that a success.  If you had such good success with the 4P, why did you go to the 6P?  The tall clear height is nice, but I think it would also make the tent more susceptible to wind than the less tall 4P.  I think a person can set up the 4P by themselves, but it looks a one person setup on the 6P could be tricky – have yout tried setting int up with just one person?  I’m trying to decide on the 4P or the 6P; most of the time I will ahve one or two more people with me, but sometimes I will be solo camping and would have to set up the tent by myself.  Any thoughts on that with the 6P? I’m 5-10, and the 60 inch 4P tents requires quite a bit of slouching inside for me to put on clothes.  And the 70-73 inch clear height of 6P tents seems a little unnecessarily high.  I wish someone would build something in between. You said you were camping in Montesano; are you talking about the PNW?  What time of year were you camping?

Comfortably Roughing It says:

Great review. Do you think this tent would be better for hot weather?
