A quick review of my thoughts of the Nikon 8×32 SE
Author: Simon Spiers
video too dark! come on give the binoculars more light to see the optics.
nice review,I have a nikon e2 and I love it.
Do the rings that hold the eyepieces move up and down as you rotate the focus wheel or are all parts internal moving?
During 3 years I’m the satisfied owner of the 10×42 SE (~500$)
– A very well build binocular with stunning clear view. Happily carried on ‘normal’ all year round birding daytrips & several days backcountry skiing with tent. (.. ÷18°C)
Compared it briefly to an equal model from Swarovski. It definitely had a slightly clearer view. But more than 3 times the price I didn’t find it worth changing.
Simon: Would you be willing to sell your SE 8×32? If yes, I might be interested. If not, then can you please let me know where you bought it? (I believe it was from Japan, but from which vendor?). Thanks, Peter.
Supposedly this is the best 8×32, this morning i looked through the leica ultravid, zeiss victory & some others. Missed this one, I’ll look again.
Sorry for delay in reply. At the time they were the best thing I had. But the Nikon EII is wider and although not quite as sharp at the edges might be the favorite.
Simon: Thank you indeed for all your binos reviews: informative, impartial and to the point (btw, your binos collection is impressive!). The Nikon SE 8×32 is still one of the best 8×32 out there but IMO the number one in this class is the Swaro EL 8×32 SV. Peter.
An informative, intelligent review of a binocular. My Nikon e11, 8 * 30 has recently been damaged beyond repair and so I am considering purchasing the se 8 * 32. Perhaps Mr Spiers could give a performance comparison.
You seem a little ambivalent about your new Binos! – I sent back a couple of expensive Roof prism binoculars in favour of a bulky set of Ollie’s and haven’t regretted it for a second. I believe Porro prisms are just intrinsically better – Your’s seem really excellent. Hope you enjoy them.
