thanks for the reviews, we’ve been wanting a new ul tent for hiking but couldnt get an idea of space. now that i’ve seen them the marmot seems to be the winner.
Review of Alps Mountaineering tents brought me here. Thank you for your real world review. Much appreciated. You seem like very nice people.
I’ve got a Big Agnes UL2 that I use for a solo tent. No way would I want to share that space, but it works nicely for myself and my gear. I’ve had it for at least a decade and have used it dozens of times and it’s still just like new. I like it in the rain or in the winter, but you are exactly right on it not being a Texas tent! I bought an $80 Kelty that is only a few oz heavier and man, it’s so much more breathable! AND it’s got a side door that is easier to get in and out of. Very good tent review!!
Which one are y’all taking to Rocky Mountain National Park?
I stumbled upon your tent review video while looking at the Alps Mountaineering tents. They seemed too inexpensive to be that good, but it appears I was mistaken. I have a Big Agnes HV UL 2, and I can totally see what you’re saying about it’s size but it’s so light and nice for my solo excursions. I may have to look at the Marmot. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the review. Been looking for a new tent after using the MSR Freelite for a while.
great tent reviews…..I have been really lucky with my tents…..I have a 30.00 ozark trail 2 person tent that I have had forever and and a 70.00 Kelty 2 person tent…love them both, but I am a loyal kelty guy!
You guys need to try a hammock. I’ve been using a hammock I got at Sam’s club and it sleeps better than my eno hammock. After sleeping in a hammock, I don’t want to sleep on the ground anymore. But, everyone sleeps different, so a hammock may not be for you.
