I took these poles on a test run on my favorite hiking trail. Must say they proved useful indeed. Coming down at full throttle with adrenalin buzz, came around a hairpin turn. Took the turn wide, failed to see the root that was magically designed in a loop, custom form fitted to my boot size. Thereby foot got locked into the ground, and the rest of me got “caught up” in the moment and took to the air in a “superman flight”. Nearly hit a tree along the way, glad my guardian angel was guiding my airtime. I landed on the poles, all 174 pounds of me. No damage to the poles and just a scrape on the knee to me body. Kids…… don’t try this at home.
Your beard speaks truth…
Very nice poles. A concern for me is that Black Diamond poles are (limited) warranted for 1 year. Leki poles are lifetime warranted. Also have heard from more than one that Black Diamond’s customer service is not good.
That beard is marvellous, how long have you been growing it?
I like the cork grips. I have them on my Leki’s and much prefer cork to rubber/soft synthetics…
My flick locks comes unhinged all the time regardless to how I tighten the screw. Really hurt when the collapsed while crossing a rocky stream. Other than the safety of knowing they will support my weight… I like them.
