What length should walking poles be?

How to adjust your walking poles to power yourself uphill more efficiently and downhill with more stability. Joerg Tichey from Komperdell poles demonstrates, filmed near their factory in Austria for Trail magazine. Presented and edited by Claire Maxted from Wild Ginger Films.

I was using the Komperdell Stiletto automatically adjusted walking poles which you can buy here: https://amzn.to/2GyZ3gi

They are very fun to use as you can make them longer and shorter with a touch of a button rather than unscrewing or unclipping which is often hard with cold hand.

They fold into 2 parts so they are quite compact, but not as compact as the Komperdell Carbon Trail Foldable poles which Joerg is using, available here: https://amzn.to/2Jm0jkP.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you happy trekking!

Transparency: As per usual for all outdoor journalists, I was given this kit to test out free of charge during a press trip in Austria. I am not paid to wear and review this kit and I provide trusted, independent reviews just as I did as editor of Trail Running magazine 2010-17.
